How plumbing prices work in Singapore
All-in versus labour plus fees
Some plumbers quote one all-in price that covers transport, labour and standard parts. Others quote labour and add transport ($10–$30 is common), an inspection fee, or a machine fee on top. Compare quotes on the same basis.
After-hours and public holidays
Evening, late-night and public-holiday visits usually cost more, either as a fixed surcharge (roughly $40–$150) or a percentage on top. Ask for the surcharge before the plumber sets off.
Inspection and no-fix visits
If a plumber comes down and you decide not to go ahead, an inspection or transport fee may still apply. A fair plumber tells you this before the visit, not after.
GST
Many quotes exclude GST (9%). If the plumber is GST-registered, check whether the price you were given includes it.
Units and parts
For installations, the unit (water heater, toilet bowl, tap) is usually priced separately from labour. You can supply your own or ask for a supply-and-install quote.
Red flags
Be wary of a low phone price that grows once the pipe is opened, pressure to decide on the spot, or a refusal to put the price in writing. Agree the price before work starts.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum charge for a plumber in Singapore?
Most plumbers have a minimum charge for small jobs, commonly around $50 to $100 plus transport, or a little more if quoted all-in. Small jobs such as changing a tap usually fall into this.
Why are your prices shown as ranges?
Because the same job can be simple or complicated depending on your pipes, access and fittings. A range is honest. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we can narrow it down.
Are town council handyman rates cheaper?
Some town councils publish subsidised term-contract rates for common jobs in HDB flats. They can be cheaper for simple jobs, so it is worth checking with yours. Waiting times and scope vary.
Do the prices include the unit, such as the water heater or toilet bowl?
Each line says what it covers. Installation pages usually show labour separately from the unit price. The product guides show typical unit prices.
