A bidet spray is a handheld spray head on a hose, mounted beside the toilet and fed from the cistern's water supply through a T-valve. Fitting one usually takes 30–60 minutes and costs about $70–150 with a basic set supplied.

When to replace or repair
- There is no bidet spray and you want one beside the toilet.
- The spray head drips even when the trigger is released.
- Water leaks from the hose, the holder or the T-valve.
- The hose has kinked, cracked or bulged.
- The trigger is stiff or the spray is weak.
- The holder has come loose from the wall.
Common reasons
- Worn washers or O-rings in the spray head or hose connections.
- A hose left under pressure all day, which wears it out faster.
- Cheap plastic sets that crack around the trigger.
- Scale or grit blocking the spray holes.
- Wall plugs loosened by repeated pulling on the holder.

Safe things to try first
- If your set has its own small valve, close it after each use so the hose is not under pressure all day.
- Unscrew the spray head and rinse grit or scale from the holes.
- If the hose leaks, close the T-valve or angle valve until it is replaced.
- Check for an angle valve at the cistern inlet, which is where a spray is usually connected.
Stop and call if
- The hose has burst or water is spraying from a joint.
- The T-valve or angle valve leaks and will not shut off.
- The holder pulled out of the tile and cracked it.

The spray, hose and valves after your meter are the owner's. Fix the holder on the side wall within easy reach, and keep the hose off the floor so it does not sit in water near the floor trap.
Condo
Check how your cistern is supplied before buying, especially with a wall-hung toilet. Inform security if the visit involves drilling, and keep to renovation hours.
Landed
Each toilet is a separate install. Upper floors with weak pressure give a softer spray, so check the flow before choosing a set.
Bidet spray installation: common questions
Where does a bidet spray get its water from?
From the same supply as the toilet cistern. A T-valve or two-way angle valve splits the pipe so one outlet fills the cistern and the other feeds the spray.
Why does my bidet spray keep dripping?
The seal inside the spray head has usually worn, or grit is stopping it closing fully. Cleaning or replacing the head normally fixes it.
Should I turn off the bidet spray valve after use?
If your set has its own valve, yes. A hose left under constant pressure wears faster and is more likely to burst, especially on cheaper sets.
Can a bidet spray be fitted to a toilet with a concealed cistern?
Often yes, but there may be no exposed pipe to connect to. A plumber can check for a nearby supply point or another way to connect it.
Do I need a licensed plumber for a bidet spray?
Replacing taps and flexible hoses is not licensed work under PUB's rules. If fitting the spray means altering the water pipes themselves, that part must be done by a PUB Licensed Plumber.
